Lump Under Skin Between Cheek And Gum

Two interesting documents: the latest version of "NASA Systems Engineering Handbook" and the report on "systems engineering" in the GPS program

two documents are available online very interesting and quite recent. The first is the 2007 version of" NASA Systems Engineering Handbook "and can be downloaded in pdf format from the archive section and the second is the" GPS Systems Engineering Case Study "published in 2008 by the 'Air Force Center for Systems Engineering ", downloadable from http://www.afit.edu/cse/cases.cfm?case=17&a=detail , which is available in the Archive section.

artificial cognitive systems: the EU looks to the future (Article by Sergio Vicari reported) Last

The world of artificial cognitive systems and machine learning is advancing rapidly and is becoming one of the major challenges of international research. We are developing new techniques in this field that will transform many aspects of our work and private life. The project Simbad ("Beyond features: Similarity-based pattern analysis and recognition"), supported by EU funding of 1.65 million, is considering some ways in which this research can be exploited.
Simbad aims to develop fully the new technology that is emerging in the fields of pattern recognition and machine learning, and is investigating the use of "similar information" instead of the standard "based on common characteristics" , said Professor Marcello Pelillo University Ca 'Foscari Venezia (Italy).
The company is developing increasingly complex machines (like robots) to fulfill many of our daily needs, he said. The artificial cognitive systems (ACS) are now becoming a main priority of the international research and in accordance with this priority, the European Commission made this area one of the seven key research areas that Europe must develop in order to become a leader in the field of information and communication technologies (ICTs) to the next generation.
A fruitful research in this field will lead to the development of many tools that will have a strong social and economic impact in the EU, he added. The control of vehicles, communications networks, medical diagnostics and human-machine interaction are just some of the areas that will benefit. There are also many economic benefits that will boost European competitiveness.
"We are devoting much effort to the completion of two biomedical imaging applications on a large scale. We contribute to the effective delivery of advanced techniques to assist in the diagnosis of renal cell carcinoma and diagnosis of most of psychosis such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, "explained Professor Pelillo." Such problems are not liable to be addressed through the use of traditional machine learning techniques, because of the difficulty of deriving appropriate descriptions on the basis of common characteristics.
A successful outcome of these applications of research shows that the approach Simbad is highly qualified to be used in biomedicine, and this would be a good starting point for further research to be carried out in this area, he said. Use techniques of pattern recognition in medicine and health services would lead to major improvements in the field of public health across the EU and open up many avenues of health technology industry.
"A positive result of our experiments provide evidence regarding the applicability of our approach in biomedicine, thus promoting the search along the path defined by Simbad, both methodological and practical level," said Professor Pelillo. "This would provide potential new opportunities in health and disease, and lead to huge improvements in the quality and efficiency of our health systems," he noted. "The field of recognition pattern is responsible for the automatic discovery of the regularities of the data through the use of computer algorithms, and through the use of these regularities take actions such as the classification of data into different categories, with a view to provide artificial systems able to improve their performance the light of new external stimuli. "
A Simbad involved six partners from five European countries (Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Switzerland and United Kingdom): an international consortium that reflects a range of international research.
" The skills needed to achieve our objectives can not be found locally or nationally. The European dimension of the project provides a critical mass of researchers with experience and complementary skills, thus stimulating the chance of success, "said Professor Pelillo." Furthermore, the potential impact of this research goes beyond the national level and the EU will benefit from the fact that present themselves as an active participant on world stage of artificial cognitive systems, which is largely dominated by the USA.

Stop My Yahoo Group Babes In Blue

From prof. Gaudenzi University "La Sapienza" of Rome

I would like to respond to the interesting contribution by Roberto Dell'Ariccia about his experience as a student with the project and about the experiences of ESMO system engineering.Sono completely agree on the need to introduce elements of System Engineering of Engineering spaziale.Infatti curricular courses this year, with the reform of the structure of certain courses, we tried to take the first steps in this direction. Some elements have been introduced in the new course of Costruzoini space that I held at the Faculty of Engineering. The course is a new institution. Surfing the internet and going on the website of the Faculty of Engineering, you can easily reach the site of the course http://dma.ing.uniroma1.it/users/ls_sas/indexSPA.html where students can check out educational materials with lots of content to SE. Students in the course of development of space systems engineering exercises have played in this facility at the Department of Aerospace Engineering and Astronautica. In reality of Wisdom effort in this direction has been developed for years in the Master in Satellites www.mastersatelliti . it.
These efforts are other elements, along with participation in ESMO, certainly a major step for our students, a development of culture of SE in our corsi.La Sapienza has also hosted this year in October, the third international workshop on the ESA system and concurrent engineering SECESA 2008, a conference that has had a significant risonanza. In other words, we're moving quite strongly in this direction to promote growth opportunities for our students in this important cultural dimension and technique of their profession.

"Systems Engineering at the University La Sapienza

Hello, I am a former student of Telecommunication Engineering, now engaged in the defense sector (Selex Sistemi Integrati), which would tell us something of his university experience Systems Enginnering (SE). In fact, I had the good fortune to participate in the design of the space mission ESMO (European Student Moon Orbiter), currently in Phase B, the European Space dall''Agenzia conduct involving students (bachelor, masters and PhD) from all over Europe and Canada (each university is in charge of one or more subsystems). I have had the further good fortune to be selected as a Ground Segment System Engineer in the International System Engineering team and participate in 5 workshops of one week to ESTEC in the Netherlands and a one-day workshop at ESOC in Germany. I am dedicated to this activity for two years, dealing mainly Requirements System, Subsystem Requirements, System Design (including The Concurrent Design Facility), Interface Control Documents, all of course following the standard methods ECSS.Per a student approaching the SE can be confusing at first, because it is often used to study at subsystem level and there is a overview of how the subsystems are interfaced and make up a complex system like a satellite or a radar system. Also missing almost the whole approach based on the requirements, the mentality of analyzing a complex system as a whole and determine "what" to do (an approach based on requirements) before you define "how" must be done (usual approach education). The experience that I have experienced has changed my way of being an engineer, making me able to approach projects in the fields of engineering also not similar to mine, and this is due to the methodologies of himself in a way I feel privileged for all that I could learn from this experience and I'm glad that now other students are working and learning for me. I think SE courses should be included in the curricula of degree courses in engineering, maybe even more encouraging exchanges between universities and companies, or with the support of organizations such as INCOSE, because it is clear that these methods must be part of the baggage a modern technical ingegnere.Spero to continue my growth at the Systems Engineering not only in their daily work but also because of the possibilities offered by INCOSE.
Greetings to all, Roberto Dell'Ariccia

INCOSE Professional Certification Program

During the informal meeting of the Italian chapter on 6 November in Telespazio, our colleague Claudio Pessa, commenting on the presentation of prof. Valerdi on professional certification program sponsored by INCOSE, show us the chance to support their qualifying examination in Italy.
Ricardo Valerdi requested information and sent me the following email:

Mark
I Looked into your question about the Possibilities for INCOSE Certification examination for Italian members of INCOSE and found out that indeed the exam can be taken in Italy (no need to fly to London) at any Prometric location.

See:
http://www.incose.org/educationcareers/certification/csepfaq.aspx#examination

According to the Prometric website, there are two test locations in Italy:

MILAN, ITALY Phone: 39 02 26265245 Site Code: 8169
VIA ANGELO VILLA 6 SESTO SAN GIOVANNI MILAN 20099

ROME, ITALY Phone: +390645476219 Site Code: 8128
Atrak S.r.l. Via Paolo Di Dono, 73 Rome 00142

Please pass this information along to the Italian INCOSE chapter or feel free to post it on the Chapter Blog.
I have copied Dave Walden, the PM certification in case you have any more questions.

-Ricardo
Good news then. Anyone interested can find more information at INCOSE International.

Survey results on" architectural frameworks "

With the caution always a must when you have to do with statistical results based on a very small sample (but still qualified), but few dare comment.

appears that less than a quarter of the systems engineering community uses or has used the "architectural framework" in the context of company projects. The remaining part (three quarters), even knowing for most of its existence, has never had occasion to use them.

This result certainly does not offend us, but, in combination with the previous survey on requirements management, confirms the need for an incisive and urgent effort to spread the culture in our system engineering companies and organizations.

INCOSE Italy there is just that!
